The Serenity Story

As told by Dr. Jeanne, NP

Serenity Medical was born from a simple idea: healthcare can be done better.

For years, I knew I wanted to build something of my own. After spending decades in emergency medicine, forensic medicine, and advanced practice nursing, I had seen healthcare from nearly every angle. What I wanted was the opportunity to create a clinic where patients felt heard, respected, and empowered to make informed decisions about their health.

Ironically, the idea for Serenity's first service line came from my father.

Possessing a CDL and in excellent health, he would often tell me stories about the challenges he faced trying to obtain his DOT physicals. The process was frequently frustrating, inconvenient, and unnecessarily complicated. I remember thinking, "I can do better than that."

So that's where Serenity began—with DOT physicals and a commitment to providing straightforward, patient-centered care.

The clinic's name came from two of the most important people in my life: my paternal grandparents. My Nanny and Papa were a constant source of truly unconditional love, wisdom, and stability throughout my life. Their home was filled with reminders of the Serenity Prayer, displayed in various pieces of artwork throughout the house. One of those pieces now hangs in our waiting room.

While I don't consider Serenity Medical a religious practice, the message behind the prayer has always resonated with me—the wisdom to recognize what we can change, the courage to change it, and the serenity to accept what we cannot change. That philosophy applies to healthcare as much as it does life. Some things are beyond our control. Others can be improved through knowledge, effort, and the right medical guidance.

As Serenity grew, so did our services.

My work in forensic medicine led me to serve as an expert witness in a case involving the sexual assault of a post-menopausal woman. During my research for the case, I discovered how little attention had been given to many aspects of menopause and women's health. The deeper I studied hormonal changes and aging, the more I realized how many patients—and even I, myself—were experiencing symptoms that often went unrecognized or untreated.

That journey led Serenity into hormone optimization.

We began with testosterone replacement therapy, which naturally complemented our DOT physical practice, and shortly thereafter expanded into hormone replacement therapy for women. From there, medical weight loss became a natural extension, recognizing the complex relationship between hormones, metabolism, and overall health.

Most recently, we have expanded into peptide therapies after hearing growing interest from patients. Rather than ignoring the trend, I chose to study the science, evaluate the evidence, and create a program focused on safety, education, and informed decision-making. My philosophy is simple: if patients are going to explore these therapies, they deserve guidance from a knowledgeable healthcare professional who prioritizes their well-being.

Today, Serenity Medical remains a family-owned practice built on the belief that healthcare should be personal.

My husband and business partner has supported this dream from the beginning, encouraging me through every step of the journey. When he's available, you'll often find him helping at the front desk. Our daughters, both trained in healthcare, help support the clinic as well. The youngest is Serenity's Medical Assistant!

Medicine has been my life's work since 1994. From EMT to paramedic, registered nurse, forensic nurse, nurse practitioner, and ultimately earning my Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, every step has reinforced the same lesson: patients deserve compassionate, evidence-based care delivered by someone who truly listens.

That's what we strive to provide every day at Serenity Medical.

Our Philosophy

Holding Hands

Grant us the SERENITY to accept the things we cannot change,
COURAGE to change the things we can,
and the WISDOM to know the difference

Striving to serve our community with serenity, courage, and wisdom

Here at Serenity Medical, we believe people are people and imperfect. There are things about each of us that are changeable, and things that are not.

We believe you should be able to trust your medical provider to give you honest answers about both and to be able to make your own decisions about your body and health, with support from that same medical provider regardless of what you choose.

We ask for your candidness, honesty, and trust so that we may in turn give you the best information about your health care options that we can. We will always respect any decisions you make about your body and health and continue to support you through those decisions - whether that requires serenity, courage, or wisdom!

From our family to yours - we look forward to taking care of you soon!

"Our job is biology, not morality."

Meet the Family

IMG_0986.jpeg

Serenity Medical is truly a family effort! Dr. Jeanne's husband helps keep things running smoothly behind the scenes and at the front desk, while their daughters—both trained in healthcare—support the clinic whenever needed. The youngest is Serenity's Medical Assistant!

Her Daddy's stories about frustrating DOT physical experiences inspired Serenity's first service line. Today, he still occasionally stops by to help build the clinic—literally.

Dr. Jeanne and her husband first met while working as paramedics in Orlando in 2002. Life took them in different directions before bringing them back together years later. After navigating careers, cross-country moves, and even cancer treatment, they married in 2023 and began building Serenity Medical together.

Why Serenity Medical?

SERENITY

Understanding what cannot be changed.

COURAGE

Taking action where improvement is possible.
